Muheza Hospice Care has been running Kids Clubs since 2004 . Most of the children have HIV and are on antiretroviral treatment but the clubs are open to children with cancer and other life limiting diseases. The clubs meet once a month and are now divided into 3 separate agegrouips as the numbers are so large. On club day they have fun, education and a good meal.
The children are taken on an annual outing, usually to the coast where they get a chance to have a swim, play games and enjoy a special time together. The kids clubs are managed by the social worker Edgar Ngelangela
The Kids Clubs now meet 3 times a month with 3 separate age groups. There are almost 300 children attending the sessions. In September 2013 80 of the older age group went to Tanga Beach Resort for a day out in memory of Christopher Mnzava. Christopher’s widow Agnes joined us for the day along with her daughters and grandson. The day was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by both the children and the staff.
