Day hospice

DSCF0030

Day hospice takes place at the Diana centre weekly and is an opportunity for patients who are bed bound at home to come to the centre for medical help, social contact with other patients, and a cooked meal. It gives the carers at home a rest for the day and patients are offered transport if they are unable to attend without.

This is also the day when the volunteer Village Health Workers come to the centre from the surrounding villages to collect medicine for housebound patients, to meet up with the trained staff and sometimes to have a teaching session.

Funding to support this service is urgently needed as although part of the palliative care provision of the hospital it is not funded by them.
